Annual Jefferson Scholarship Dinner Unites Donors and Recipients

The Jefferson Foundation hosted its annual scholarship dinner Feb. 26, 2014, to thank scholarship donors and allow them the opportunity to meet their scholarship recipients.

Stephen K. Klasko, MD, MBA, president and CEO, Thomas Jefferson University & TJUH System, gathered with more than 45 scholarship donors and 62 scholarship recipients from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and the Jefferson Schools of Population Health, Health Professions and Nursing for the event in the Dorrance H. Hamilton Building.

“This academic year, with your help, Jefferson awarded an estimated $10.3 million in need- and merit-based financial aid to 1,072 students across the university, which is 29 percent of all Jefferson students. In Sidney Kimmel Medical College alone, we awarded an estimated $6.1 million to 406 students, which is 38 percent of JMC students. We could not have done that with you,” Klasko told donors in the audience.

Samuel Lindner, a fourth-year JMC student and recipient of the Benjamin and Mary Siddons Measey Foundation Scholarship, offered remarks about what scholarship support means to him personally. The dinner also gave Linder the opportunity to meet Stanley Goldfarb, MD, and Marshall Blume, PhD, two trustees of the Measey Foundation, to thank them for the Foundation’s generosity.
