The Best is Yet to Come

Time has been flying since I came to Jefferson in February 2014. Our celebrations of the union of the hospital, university and practice plans to create “One Jefferson” and the recent $110 million gift that named the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University are but two of the highlights. They are only the first of many to come.

Jefferson has a rich history of thought leadership and clinical innovation — a heritage that positions us as a leader in health care today and a pioneer of breakthroughs tomorrow. One of the cutting-edge fields transforming medical discovery is computational medicine. Jefferson’s Computational Medicine Center is at the forefront of health care’s digital revolution. Exploiting the latest advances in computational sciences and technology, our researchers are using experimental and clinical data to build models that unravel complex medical mysteries.

The smart processing of big data is a new way of doing biomedical science that promises to deliver unprecedented advances in understanding, detecting and treating disease at the individual patient level.

Jefferson’s President and CEO, Stephen K. Klasko, MD, MBA, is a visionary leader. Since the launch of our Blueprint for Strategic Action, along with our new tag line “Health is all we do,” palpable and growing excitement has spread among our constituents and throughout Philadelphia. Jefferson is a dynamic and entrepreneurial institution whose distinguished history points forward to more history-making change. I am inspired by the talent, dedication, compassion and commitment of our staff at all levels. It’s a terrific time to be here. I hope you will join us and be a part of our journey to revolutionize health care.
